For years, I believed being “healthy” meant having the perfect body — the one praised by social media, fitness culture, and beauty standards. I chased that image through fad diets, self-deprecating thoughts, and an endless cycle of restriction and shame.
But none of it brought me real wellness. In fact, it made everything worse.
Eventually, I developed high blood pressure and was diagnosed with diabetes. My body constantly ached, especially in my joints, and I felt heavy — not just physically, but emotionally. I was constantly trying to manage motivation through an unhealthy relationship with food. I was doing all the things, but avoiding the one thing that mattered most: true healing.
The Turning Point
What finally changed everything wasn’t a new diet or fitness plan. It was a shift in perspective — away from trying to “fix” myself and toward honoring myself.
Through mindfulness, yoga, and energy healing, I began to tune in instead of pushing through. I stopped trying to mold myself into something I wasn’t and started listening to the version of me that was already here — the one who needed compassion, not criticism.
From “I Am Broken” to “I Am Healing”: 3 Mindset Shifts That Changed Everything
1. Replace Punishment with Presence
Instead of criticizing my body or forcing it into submission, I began to ask:“How do I feel right now?” and “What does my body need today?” This small daily practice helped me develop trust in myself. Healing began when I started responding with kindness instead of judgment.
2. Redefine What Progress Looks Like
Progress stopped being about numbers, clothing sizes, or meal plans. It became about waking up with more energy. Feeling peace after meals. Moving without pain. Laughing more. Wellness wasn’t something to chase — it became something I could create from within.
3. Let Healing Be Holistic
I stopped separating my health into categories (food, movement, mindset) and started seeing it as one interconnected whole. I nourished myself not just with meals, but with deep breaths, quiet moments, and spiritual connection. Yoga became the space to connect with myself, in my highest form. Food became love. And my body became home again.
The Journey Continues
I am still on this path, with moments of reverting to old behaviors. Instead of puishing myself in those moments, I stay rooted in balance, gentleness, and self-trust. I no longer believe I need to be fixed — I simply need to be fully seen, felt, and supported.
Healing didn’t come from willpower or perfection. It came from realizing I was never broken — only disconnected from myself.
And now? I’m coming home.
Be Brave and embrace a Reflective Prompt:
Take 10–15 minutes today to reflect on the following:
Where in my life am I still trying to “fix” myself instead of loving myself? What would shift if I chose compassion over control? How does my body feel when I slow down and simply listen?
Let your response flow without editing. This is your space to reconnect with the truth beneath the noise.
Always in gratitude and a little bit of magic,
Jonencia
