For those of you who already know me, you know that I love our book collection at the shop. If you’ve ever taken a yoga class with me, you might’ve seen me pull inspiration from a well-loved book or an oracle deck tucked beside my mat.
We take a lot of pride and care in curating our collection—every book on the shelf has been read by someone on our team. Nothing is there just to fill space. These books are our companions, our teachers, our reminders. We are lifelong learners, and because of our deep love for knowledge, energy, and personal growth, I wanted to share a few of the titles I return to again and again. The ones that live beside my tea, my journal, my breath. The ones that feel more like friends than pages.
These aren’t just good reads. These are the books that found me when I needed them. The ones that cracked something open, offered clarity in moments of doubt, or simply held space for me to be wherever I was.
Here are a few of my soul’s favorite books—each one sacred in its own way.
Light on Life by B.K.S. Iyengar
A book about the body—and so much more.
I first came to this book during a time when I was craving depth in my yoga practice. I knew the poses, I understood breathwork, but I hadn’t yet fully realized how the body could become a bridge between the physical and the spiritual.
Iyengar’s words are precise, powerful, and deeply human. Light on Life is not just about alignment on the mat—it’s about alignment in life. He writes with humility and devotion, guiding the reader through the layered intelligence of the body, mind, and soul.
One passage that always lands in my heart:“The body is your temple. Keep it pure and clean for the soul to reside in.”
This book reminded me that the body is not an obstacle to overcome—it’s a sacred doorway. I now read it as both a teacher and a student. It’s a text I return to again and again whenever I need to reconnect with the wisdom of embodiment.
Reaching the Sun: Poems, Quotes & Lessons on Growth and Transformation by April Green
A book that reads like a gentle companion.
If Light on Life is a voice of grounded wisdom, Reaching the Sun is a soft soul whisper—tender, poetic, and disarmingly honest.
April Green writes with a kind of emotional clarity that doesn’t force anything—it simply meets you where you are. Her words speak to the parts of you that feel too sensitive, too unsure, too much. And instead of silencing them, she helps you see their beauty.
This book has traveled with me through healing, new beginnings, and quiet endings. It’s a book I keep close on days when I need to remember that growth is not always graceful, and transformation is often messy.
One of my favorite passages:“Some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives won’t have a title until much later.”
This book doesn’t demand anything from you. It simply opens its arms and reminds you that you’re not alone. It is, in every way, an offering of grace.
Chakras & Shadow Work by Stephanie Michelle
For the deep divers and soul excavators.
This book is for anyone who has realized that healing is not just about light and love—it’s also about being willing to face the places within us that we’ve hidden, denied, or avoided.
Stephanie Michelle brings nuance, care, and honesty to the world of energy work. Most chakra books I encountered felt like a list of affirmations and color associations. This one? It invites you into the underworld—in the most empowering way.
Each chakra is explored not only through the lens of energy and balance but also through its emotional, psychological, and spiritual shadows. And it’s done with so much compassion.
Reading this book felt like being lovingly challenged by a friend who believes in your wholeness. It reminded me that integration is not about perfection—it’s about allowing all parts of ourselves to be seen and held.
This is a guide for those who are ready to go beyond surface healing. A book for those who know that the shadow, when embraced, can become a source of profound wisdom and power.
Psychic Witch by Mat Auryn
The book that gave me language for what I already knew.
I’ve always been sensitive—intuitive in ways I didn’t know how to explain. Before reading this book, I often questioned myself. Doubted what I felt. Minimized my spiritual experiences.
Psychic Witch helped me stop doing that. It gave structure to the unseen. It gave language to the felt sense. It reminded me that intuition isn’t some magical gift given to a chosen few—it’s something we all have access to, something we can nurture and refine with practice.
Mat Auryn is incredibly grounded in his teaching. His tone is empowering, his practices are accessible, and his insights are deeply validating. What I loved most is that he doesn’t encourage dependency on external tools—instead, he helps you sharpen your own inner compass.
This book helped me trust myself more. It deepened my energetic boundaries, expanded my awareness, and taught me how to listen to my own subtle knowing.
If you’re someone who senses more than you say, who knows things before you can explain why—this book might feel like coming home.
These Books Aren’t Just Books
They’re teachers. Allies. Mirrors. Each one arrived exactly when I needed it—not as a solution, but as a soft light along the path.
They didn’t offer quick fixes. They didn’t promise transformation in five steps.
Instead, they offered presence. Practice. Perspective.
And sometimes, that’s more than enough.
If you’re in a season of growth, grief, rebirth, or re-centering—perhaps one of these books will speak to you, too. You’ll know when it’s the right time. The soul always recognizes what it needs.
And when the words find you—don’t be surprised if they echo something you’ve carried all along.
Always in gratitude and a little magic,
Jonencia
